Exploring the World of LiDAR

Exploring the world of LiDAR

LiDAR, an acronym for Light Detection and Ranging, has become a staple technology in the realm of remote sensing. By utilizing laser beams to measure distances and create detailed 3D maps of the environment, LiDAR systems have opened several possibilities across various industries. LiDAR technology continues to evolve, and one of the most groundbreaking advancements in recent years is Geiger-mode LiDAR. This technology has paved the way for capturing high-resolution 3D data of the environment with unparalleled precision and accuracy.

The Advantages of Geiger-mode LiDAR

VeriDaaS has collected the utility’s entire service area (approximately 5,000 square miles) at 50 points per square meter with their high-density sensors. VeriDaaS then extracted/classified the utility feature classes to support vegetation management and conflation use cases. The entire acquisition and classification were completed in two months, which included down time associated with poor weather conditions.

Surveying and Ground Control Points

Surveying , is a critical aspect of municipal planning, as it helps in establishing accurate maps, commercial and residential development, and property management. In the modern era, ground control is the foundation of all the geospatial information that helps in the management of cities and towns.

Ground control points (GCPs) are precisely surveyed points in the physical world, which serve as the reference for mapping and surveying. With the advent of new technologies, these points are becoming increasingly important for the accuracy and reliability of geospatial data.

Surveying Services

Our highly qualified team of Professional Land Surveyors (PLS) are responsible for collecting Ground Control Points (GCPs) that are used in our data processing verification and validation, to ensure a high-level of accuracy in our products.

Licensed in both the US and Canada, our survey crews are available to our customers as contracted services.
